Costa impresses customers with pink hot chocolate that's perfect for Instagram - Yahoo Sports

To herald in the new year, Costa has added a range of new food and drink options to its menu.

These include an eye-catching pink hot chocolate, as well as its largest ever vegan offering.

The Ruby Cocoa Hot Chocolate costing £3.35 and comes in a pretty rose hue.

On the coffee chain’s website, it is described as “a delicious and delightfully fruity, stunning rose-coloured hot chocolate made with Ruby cocoa beans and topped with a swirl of cream and red shimmer chocolate curls”.

It comes in ‘primo’ and ‘medio’ sizes, and there’s a choice of cow’s milk and non-dairy alternatives.

The in-store version contains 298 calories, while a takeout serving has 360 calories.

Customers praised the Instagram-friendly beverage on social media.

Taking to Twitter, one person wrote: “Just found out Costa is selling pink hot chocolates and it’s like all my dreams are coming true.”

Another commented: “Ruby hot chocolate is a new fav and it's pink.”

Sharing a snap of the new product, a third noted: “Sibling trip to Costa just for this pink hot chocolate.”

And a fourth added: “The basic b***h in me is desperate to try Costa’s pink hot chocolate.”

The chain have also introduced several additions to its vegan menu ready for ‘Veganuary’ which hundreds of thousands are set to take part in.

These include a Vegan Strawberry Croissant, Vegan Smoky Ham & Cheese Toastie and Vegan Chilli Bean & Rice Pot.

There will also be a Coconut Flat White, Coconut Vanilla Latte and Coconut Hot Chocolate, while almond, soya and lactofree milks will be available free of charge.

Eric Tavoukdjian, Commercial Marketing Director at Costa Coffee, said: “January has a reputation for being a dull time of year, but at Costa Coffee we believe it is as an opportunity to try something new.

“With dairy alternatives available free of charge throughout Veganuary, now is the perfect time to enjoy our Coconut trio drinks range alongside the delicious NEW! Vegan Smokey Ham & Cheeze Toastie, and make it a meal deal for a great price.

“Elsewhere we have our eye-catching Ruby Cocoa Hot Chocolate landing in time for Valentine's Day and healthy new food partnerships with Bol and Deliciously Ella.” 

It comes as Greggs launched its highly-anticipated vegan steak bake earlier this week.

Hoards of people were pictured queuing to get their hands on the product at a launch event in Newcastle on Wednesday night.

The UK’s largest bakery chain is now selling the plant-based product for £1.55 to takeaway, or £1.85 to eat in.
